Beginners' Playing Tips
This simple piece from Carulli's 'Grand Receuil' Opus 246 is played within the first position of the fretboard. There are three 8-bar repeated sections (A, B & C). The key is C major for the first two sections and the relative minor key of A minor for the last section. The D.C.al Fine instruction comes into effect after you've repeated the third section. It sends you back to the beginning to play again, but without repeats, until you reach the Fine sign at the end of the second 8-bar section, which is the end of the piece. The playing order of sections is:
The time signature is 2/4 meaning two main beats per bar, each of which is worth a quarter note. Every bar is composed of 8th notes, so count them as:
